Background/Education

Kimberly grew up and continues to live near her family in Amherst, Ohio.  While she attended Marion L. Steele high school, she took various courses in art and culture which lead her to develop an interest in design.
Following high school, Kim attended Bowling Green State University, where, as she explored the basics in design principals, her passion for design elements and techniques grew.  She expanded her curriculum to include courses that involved architecture, the history of design, building codes and space planning.  These courses were selective and personal, allowing for an intense education.  Kim became involved in organizations such as ASID and IDA which volunteered design services to the community, including projects such as putting together a safe environment for adults with Dementia and Alzheimer’s.  Kim also took courses in photography, marketing, business management, and real estate.

Experience

After achieving a degree in Interior Design, Kim joined a residential furniture store, and worked hand-in-hand with the company owner to redesign the function and appearance of the store’s showroom.  She started by selecting new inventory and created intimate vignettes, initiated a design consultation program that helped clients solve challenging room plans then quickly expanded the program into commercial design.  She created personal seating areas with appropriate function and ambience for local theaters and recreational centers, and also worked with various real estate agencies in selecting furniture that would be placed in model homes for the purpose of suggesting a scheme for the use of available space.
Later Kim joined the La-Z-Boy furniture galleries for the opportunity to work in a new market with a well respected name in the furniture industry.

Design Philosophy

Kim’s philosophy stresses function and comfort in every room.  She implements the appropriate balance, proportion, scale, and aesthetics for each design.   Kim is a wonderful listener who incorporates your needs and wants into the room, making sure that it fits your every comfort and desire.
